You begin your journey at a ludus in Capua, where you have much to prove before the people decide you are worthy of bigger stadiums. The battles get harder as you go along, and finally you head for the magnificent Circus Maximus in Rome. The battle mechanism is based on active engagement.

Not all enemies react the same, so mashing the same attack button probably won't work for long. Legionaries can shield themselves, spearmen can hit you from a distance, Gaul warriors may strike you with big blows with their axes, and frightening creatures like lions and tigers can suddenly jump on you.
